"I'm a cup you've filled to overflowing. And from this well, drink forever" -Wyatt Ong
I'm happy to share what I think is the most beautiful wedding I've had the honor to be a part of as a wedding designer. The colors and the details are just so well thought out.
Wyatt knew me through Mega Young Designers Competition 2012. I remember her because she wrote one of the nicest write ups a writer can give to a budding designer like me, and she completely understood what my collection was about, Which for me meant my collection was successful.
Fast forward 2016, she emailed me about having her wedding and entourage dresses made. I was more than happy to sit down with her and brainstorm.
The words/ideas that really resonated with me were poetry and intimacy. A sense of Timelessness. A shared happiness. Oh and tulle. Lots of gossamer tulle in grayish blue hues. The color alone got me all giddy already. It's my favourite palette.
Theirs is a story deeply rooted in their shared love for beautiful words. I love that I had more "material" to work with than usual. There's enough meat to their story where I can draw references from to create something truly unique for her. And hers and hers alone.
The challenge was to do something 'simple' yet inspired and thoughtful, the same adjectives she used to describe my collection back then. Soft but with a light edge to it.
I came up with the idea to embroider part of her vows but subtly placed under the tulle layer of her skirt, hidden from casual viewers, and only visible by those closest to her.
The photos won't truly capture the real beauty of the dress since the dress is designed to be felt, up close, in real life. But really this is the most beautifully captured wedding I've had the honor of helping shape into realty. Such beautiful work by Kris Holland.
Her hubby, Maurice, is finishing his grad school in NorCal and they plan on relocating there, also they wanted a small intimate wedding reflective of their preferences so they decided to get married in this old converted firehouse somewhere in the Sacramento. Which I thought was Gorgeous!
Our timelines are adjusted so we can ship all the dresses ahead. But seeing the pics. It's well worth it. Words fail to express the excitement I felt upon seeing these photos. It's just soooo beautiful.
