Doha. Qatar.
Boracay. Philippines.

Odds and Chances.
To most, odds and chances can be pretty mundane.
But I personally find odds and chances extremely romantic.
What are the odds, that in the infinite vastness of the universe, in the wideness of this planet among 8 Billion people, we encounter a soul that would, in more ways than one, create a bond that alters who we are as a person fundamentally.
Our bride Sushmita, met her now husband, Alex, in Qatar. both of them thousands of miles away from their homes. Sushmita originally from the Philippines, and Alex originating from Romania.
But somehow, by chance, they made a home for themselves amidst the distance and uncertainty.
And I’m extremely honored to have been made a part of their story.
Since she’s based in Qatar, almost all our correspondence was made online, from initial measurements to developing the concept of her dress. etc She only had time to drop by twice for fittings. The second of which was about a week prior to her wedding.
Her wedding being a beach wedding in world-famous Boracay, she wanted something classic yet sexy, light and not overly embellished, subtle yet still dramatic.
On my end. I envisioned mermaids in an enchanted pool, swimming under the moonlight. I created a linear embroidery pattern that’s evocative of mermaid tails that goes from head to toe. Our team then embellished the embroidery with minuscule cut beads, sequins, and Swarovski crystals to create super subtle embellishing that’s almost invisible from afar. A design subtle enough that it will not take away from her beauty but with enough elements to enhance it.
And by chance, yet again, it rained on their wedding day in Boracay. It’s pretty uncharacteristic during February as it is our driest month in tropical, always raining Philippines. In Romanian tradition however, rain during a wedding is portends a life of luck for the newlyweds.
